Good Practices

File Naming Convention

Keep file names short and essential, in lowercase, without space. Label images with a prefix like this to allow ease of referencing.

YYYYMMDD-category-subcategory-name.ext, e.g.
Article main picture : 20140901-showbiz-gossip-jolin-main.jpg
Article inline or photo gallery : 20140901-showbiz-gossip-jolin-01.jpg
Leaderboard : 20140901-showbiz-gossip-jolin-720x150.jpg

Image Optimization

Do not use original images for web use. Resize images and optimize them for web use before publishing.

  • All content images can accommodate a maximum width of 800px, preferrably in the ratio of 4:3, landscape mode. This is to allow Facebook to display a better view instead of a cropped off image (in portrait mode).
  • Optimization level can be set at 50-60%.
  • Convert CMYK images to RGB
  • File extension for web rendering : .jpg, .png, .gif

Photo and Media Credit

Provide credit in the article or Photo Caption when images are netted from other sources.

e.g (照片取自互联网)

Check & Verify

All work must be checked and tested before publishing.
